BYS Services Summary:
BYS provides a community hub for young people and young families to access a holistic range of services across multiple levels of immediacy and intensity, from immediate need such as food and showers through to intensive, therapeutic and planned support that respond to their needs and help them create a new future.

The range of services currently provided include:

  • Drop in services including access to: 
    • Showers, laundry, food, mail, storage of belongings, computers and phones
    • Program of activities to participate in.
  • Specialist youth medical clinic including a doctor and nurse
  • Access to drug intervention workers; Intervention, education and support.
  • Needle and Syringe Exchange program
  • Access to emergency assistance for housing and fares
  • On-site assistance from Centrelink with income support
  • On-site Mental Health Outreach Clinic
  • Legal and Court Support including weekly clinic at the Diversion Court
  • Crime Prevention Program
  • Public Space based Outreach services
  • Activities and arts programs (www.brisbit.com)
  • Community cultural development projects
  • Resource development
  • Transitional Housing Program
  • Housing support and education
  • Health education and promotion activities and intervention
  • A range of Parent support services for young families including intensive support
  • Parenting Groups
  • Peer education programs
